7 weeks!

I finally have an actual surgery date rather than a time period. My surgery will be Tuesday, June 7th at 8am at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. I will have two surgeons: Dr. Maiers will be repairing my labral tear(s) and Dr. Scheid will be performing the PAO and removing the screws from my knee surgery last year. I will be getting two orders in my packet of information from Scheid. One order is to go find out my blood type and then another order for someone to do a direct blood donation for me. Let's hope someone is a match to me! Methodist will be calling me to do a pre-op appointment to 'clear' me for surgery since I don't have a family doctor. Hopefully I won't get poked with a bunch of needles. At least I will probably be over my fear of needles after this ordeal is over. I have a pre-op appointment scheduled with Dr. Scheid to get all my questions answered before surgery. That won't be till May 11th so I have a lot of time to get my list of questions together. It's at 8am, so I will be able to keep him trapped till all my questions are answered.
I am relieved that I finally have a surgery date, but I am also very scared. This is real now. I keep wondering if I could live without the surgery. But then I try to walk or stand longer than a half an hour and the pain is out of control. I hate losing my entire summer, but when else can I do this? At least I will have a friend also going through the same thing. Her surgery is a week before mine, May 31st, and is in Michigan. So we will both be able to share stories. She has also already had this surgery on her other hip, so she will be able to tell me if everything is going "normal" for me.
I will try to update more regularly now. With my questions that I need answered and all my other appointments coming up. I will also update post-op on how things are doing.

Here is a video from another hip chick's blog that further explains the PAO.
